Azhar, Jaffar guide KG Blues to victory
KARACHI: Azhar Khan and Jaffer Qureshi guided Karachi Gymkhana Blues to a thrilling two-wicket victory over Brothers Cricket Club Dadu in their Group A encounter of the 26th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Festival Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2011 here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Friday.
Wicketkeeper-opener Azhar struck 11 boundaries in his 32-ball 62 while Jaffer steadied the ship in the closing stages with 34 off 31 balls to steer the hosts to victory with just one delivery to spare.
Earlier Man of the Match Azhar effected four stumpings in the Brothers CC innings which lost momentum after breezy 68-run opening stand between Shabbir Solangi (36) and Nooruddin (38). Off-spinner Farhan Arif (4-31) and left-arm spinner Jaffer Qureshi (3-23) sent them crashing from 113 for two to 149 all out.
