‘Our petition has borne fruit’

KARACHI: Mehmood Mandviwalla, one of Shahid Afridi’s lawyers, declared that the former captain’s petition against the PCB has borne fruit.
“Afridi’s NOC has been restored which means that his petition has borne fruit,” said Mandviwalla, a senior lawyer, in an interview with ‘The News’ on Thursday.
Mandviwalla was referring to Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to grant Afridi with an NOC to play for Hampshire in the English Twenty20 league.
The lawyer is convinced that the Board made the move just because of Afridi’s decision to go to court.
“They (PCB) would never have come to the negotiating table,” he said. “It was only because he (Afridi) filed a petition against unfair disciplinary proceedings that the PCB changed its mind about the NOC,” he added.
