PCB forms committee for selection of new coach
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) formed a four-member committee on Monday for the selection of a new coach for the national cricket team, Express 24/7 reported.
Former Coach Intikhab Alam was appointed as the chairman of the committee along with Zaheer Abbas, Colonel Naushad and Ramiz Raja as the other members.
The committee will consider both national and foreign candidates for the position of Pakistan cricket team’s coach after Eid ul Fitr.
Earlier, Pakistan’s last coach Waqar Younis resigned citing personal and medical reasons. The tour of Zimbabwe which is underway is his last assignment as the national team’s coach.
Waqar, Pakistan’s 15th coach since 1995, was appointed after the winless tour of Australia last year where he also served as the team’s bowling consultant. His regime saw Pakistan reach the semi-finals of the 2010 World Twenty20 as well as the 2011 World Cup but also witnessed the spot-fixing saga.
