Shoaib Malik & Kamran Akmal waiting for a comeback

Lahore: They may be out of favour
at the moment but senior Pakistan players Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik have not given up hope of playing for the national cricket team again.

The duo, who are unlikely to get the new central contracts that would be announced soon, have said they are confident of making comebacks.

While Kamran has been dropped purely because of his form, former captain Malik has been sidelined after failing to satisfy the integrity committee of the board over some issues relating to funds in his accounts.

While Malik has not played for the national team since last year, Akmal was dropped after a mixed World Cup where his keeping was not up to standards.

"I know my keeping has been a disappointment for many people. I will be holding sessions with former greats like Wasim Bari, Saleem Yousuf, Moin Khan and Rashid Latif to work out my problems," Kamran told the media in Lahore.

The experienced player said he would seek tips from former wicketkeepers on how to improve his game.

"They can help me out I am sure. I am not shy of approaching anyone to sort out issues with my game. They are experienced and can advise me well," he said.

Malik echoed Kamran's views during his talk with reporters at the National Cricket Academy.

"It is disappointing not to be part of the national team since last year. It does hurt because Pakistan cricket has given me a lot and it is a matter of pride for me to play for my country," he said.
