Pakistan:Good to see an end to PCB-Afridi controversy: Sarfraz
KARACHI: Former Test pacer Sarfraz Nawaz said that it was good that the legal battle between former skipper Shahid Afridi and board has come to an end.
“It is good to see the conflict between Shahid Afridi and PCB has finally resolved,” Sarfraz Nawaz told PPI.
“The controversy was damaging Pakistan cricket and it was also tarnishing Pakistan’s image in the international cricket communities.”
Sarfraz said that controversies like this one damages cricket and therefore players and the board should avoid such controversies in future if they are sincere to Pakistan cricket.
However, the outspoken former cricketer criticised the PCB disciplinary committee for asking Shahid Afridi to apologise even after handing him a hefty fine.
“If they (PCB disciplinary committee) had handed him a punishment and fined him then there was no reason to ask for apology as it doesn’t make any sense,” Sarfraz said. Meanwhile, Sarfraz praised Afridi for magnanimously admitting his mistakes.
